Town of Virgil Hope Lake Park & Pavilion

Hope Lake Park

Just steps from Hope Lake Lodge to the north, the Town of Virgil Hope Lake Park offers a variety of outdoor activities for all ages and abilities.

Fishing poles and bait can be purchased and fishing boats, paddle boats and canoes are available to rent at the lifeguard and first aid headquarters.

Grills are on site for outdoor cook-outs. Take an evening stroll around the lake and enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty of this valley.

Hope Lake Recreational Service, LLC reserve the right to close the Park and Beach due to dangerous weather conditions.

Daily Pass Pricing:

Town Residents

Town residents will receive free admission to the park with Town photo identification. Town residents can get their photo identification (passes) by visiting the Virgil Town Hall during normal business hours. A fee of $1 will be charged by the Town of Virgil for producing identification passes.

Hope Lake Lodge & Indoor Water Park Guests

Hope Lake Lodge and Indoor Water Park Guests will receive free admission to the Park. The Park bracelet will be provided by Hope Lake Park at the Bathhouse upon check-in, and will be used as the guest’s identification.


$5.00 per person per day*

Non-resident under the age of 2 are free.

Check-in and payment(s) must be done at the Life Guard and First Aid Room in which an armband will be received.

*Pricing is subject to change. Additional fees will apply for Pavilion, Boat and Fishing Pole rentals along with bait fees.

Season Pass (non-resident):

$40 per person (May through September). Maximum of $175 per family.*

Check-in must be done at the Life Guard and First Aid Room, in which an armband will be received on each visit. Passes may be purchased at the Park or at the Virgil Town Hall. Park fee includes swimming, fishing and the use of hiking trails, picnic areas and volleyball.

Group Prices (non-resident):

  • Groups of 10-49: $4.00 per person
  • Groups of 50-99: $3.50 per person
  • Groups of 100 or more: $2.50 per person

Pavilion Rental Prices**:

  • Rent for 4 hours: $275 ($200 + $75 for clean-up deposit*)
  • Rent for 6 hours: $355 ($280 + $75 for clean-up deposit*)
  • Rent for 8 hours: $440 ($365 + $75 for clean-up deposit*)

Note: The $75 for clean-up will be refunded if clean-up is not necessary. In addition to the $75 deposit, a 50% deposit is required in advance to hold your reservation. All cancellations must be received 21 days prior to the reservation to receive a 50% refund less a $25 administration fee. Additional charges will be assessed for any damages or extensive clean-up.

** Pricing is subject to change. Pavilion fee does not include the Park Fee per person (non-resident), however group rates may apply.

Maximum Capacity of the Pavilion may not exceed 160 people.

All reservations will be directed to the Park Manager. Please call 607.898.0750.

Boat Rentals:

Canoe, Row Boat & Paddle Boat per hour: $8*

  • Fishing Pole rental for 4 hours: $7*
  • Bait – worms per dozen: $6*

Fishing at Hope Lake is “catch and keep”. New York State Department of Environment Conservation limits apply. Please notify the Park Staff of your catch for re-stocking purposes.

Note: New York State Fishing License is required for ages 16 and older.

Equipment Rental Deposit:

Basketballs and Volleyballs: $5*

Deposit will be refunded if item is returned and not damaged.  Deposit will be kept if item is not returned and or is damaged.

Swimming Lessons:

Pricing per session: Virgil Residents- $10.00 per person, Non Virgil Residents- $40.00 per person.
